🚨 Elon Musk bids farewell to his role in the U.S. government and refocuses on Tesla ⚡🚗
This Wednesday, Elon Musk confirmed that he will leave behind his brief involvement in the government of Donald Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a period that lasted just over three months.
During a cabinet meeting at the White House, Musk announced that starting in May, he will refocus almost entirely on Tesla. "It has been an honor to work with this cabinet," he said directly to Trump. He also praised the first 100 days of the administration, calling them "historic."
The news was not entirely surprising. He had already warned in the last Tesla earnings call that his time devoted to the DOGE project would be significantly reduced, going down to just one or two days a week.
Although Musk claimed that DOGE managed to save the government $160 billion, that figure is far from the $2 trillion that he initially promised. Furthermore, some reports indicate that the disruptions caused by the project could cost the State about $135 billion this year.
Trump personally thanked Musk for his efforts, acknowledging that he had been treated unfairly. Elon responded with humor, alluding to the attacks on his Tesla cars following his entry into government: "They like to burn my cars, which is not great."
Although Elon doesn't completely close the door to his collaboration with the government, he made it clear that his priority is once again Tesla. "I will continue as long as I am useful, but starting next month I will dedicate much more time to Tesla, now that DOGE is already up and running," he declared.
Thus ends this curious chapter of Musk in federal bureaucracy. Now he returns to what he does: electric cars, technology... and perhaps more burning Teslas.
