Trump: Will try to reach a tripartite protocol between the US, Ukraine, and Russia; there is no need for a ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

On August 19, U.S. President Trump stated that he would attempt to reach a trilateral protocol among the United States, Ukraine, and Russia. During a meeting at the White House with Ukrainian President Zelensky, Trump said he "does not believe there must be a ceasefire protocol." He stated, "A ceasefire sounds good, it could immediately stop the killing, but strategically, some countries may be unwilling to cease fire because it gives the enemy time to recover." Trump mentioned that "it is also possible to fight while negotiating." ( Jin10 )
